This month’s Styled Stories features a postcard from a recent getaway to the mountains of Austria, where my very lovely other half surprised me with a birthday ski trip to the beautiful Alpenhotel Kitzbuhel.
As much I love my time on the slopes, many ski hotels can lack the luxury of a desirable interior! So, I certainty wasn’t expecting to be writing home about a seductively distinctive, Alpine inspired, meets modern Instagram interior hotel stay.
And it turns out that wasn’t the only surprise I was to expect! But before I get to that part, let’s talk interiors.
The Alpenhotel Kitzbuhel consists of three adjacent buildings, all of which are a successful blend of traditional Alpine Tyrolean design with a modern twist. Noble woods and natural textures create a cosy, yet elegant atmosphere. We stayed in a suite which is located in the Das Steghaus building, with only 5 rooms that directly overlook the jetty of the lake, which offers stunning sunrise and sunset views over the mountains.
The interior of the suites combines tactile, natural materials such as stone walls, wood, and linen in soothing neutral, that perfectly complement the beautiful surroundings. These are offset with minimalist furniture, lighting, and accessories often in a bold black finish.
And it turns out that the Lake Swarzsee was to become even more special when on the last day my other half popped the question overlooking the lake! So, it seems that the beauty of this stunning hotel will hold a place in my heart for many reasons.
The whole interior and exterior of this hotel is a wonderful fusion of nature, architecture, and interior design. I look forward to my next visit and reliving some very special memories from my time spent overlooking the Lake Swarzsee.
