LOT 25 is nestled in the charming village of Willingham, on the outskirts of Cambridge, one of the most known university cities in the country.
This restaurant, café, and bar concept is known for its refined blend of dining, relaxation, and welcoming hospitality.
THE DESIGN APPROACH
At Styled, each commercial design always begins with storytelling in mind. The concept behind this full refurbishment was to take inspiration from the client’s brief, and turn this into a script as a starting point to springboard ideas. The redesign of this space required a strong narrative with unique character that considered the historic features of this beautiful building.
This project called for a transformation of a period barn building which was previously used as an additional seating / bar space adjacent to the café area. The aim was always to increase covers but also to evolve LOT 25 into a more considered venue for evening dining and events.
“It’s all about creating a distinctive design with a pleasing aesthetic to encourage your customers to relax, stay longer and enjoy their experience”
"We couldn’t in any way fault Natasha's work. We loved all her concept ideas from furniture, to decor, to materials. Tash definitely has an eye for detail and has created a stunning design for us!
This was a massive project for us, and we couldn’t have done it without her!"
Laura Starling, Owner
“A well-considered commercial space is as important as that of the home, but for different reasons. Prioritising interior design choices in a commercial space can be the key to enticing and impressing new and existing customers.”
Natasha King, Founder & Principal Designer
THE PROJECT
For the redevelopment of this historic building, we were asked to come up with an interior vision that married the traditional feel of the barn that also reflected the owner’s sense of style.
Firstly, we spent a lot of time looking at the general arrangement of furniture on plan to check the flow of guests and how we could enhance their experience through a thoughtful layout and furniture design. We wanted a traditional feel and overall aesthetic, with a modern twist and luxurious level of comfort.
Rustic & natural materials were used to create a backdrop for rich fabrics and luxurious, bespoke, upholstered furniture. The bespoke booth seating is a key feature in the upper restaurant space.
British furniture makers, and craftspeople played a crucial role in achieving the overall aesthetic, and the showcase of this design is the bespoke crafted spilt staircase feature which leads up to the new mezzanine upper floor. We designed this feature with black railings with a dark oak handrail for contrast on this striking feature.
