This Victorian home underwent a full-scale renovation, stripped back to its bones to make way for a modern, functional family home while carefully preserving and reimagining its period features. Walls were removed, windows and doors replaced, and layouts reconfigured to suit contemporary living, all with a considered approach that respected the property’s character. Every room was designed to have its own distinct personality, yet the interiors flow together under a cohesive transitional style, reflecting the client’s eclectic tastes.From a scandi-inspired master bedroom to a Rococo-style guest bedroom, a serene Japandi bathroom, and a bespoke laundry room adorned with traditional Portuguese tiling, each space was thoughtfully curated. Every material, texture, and colour choice was carefully selected to elevate the overall home experience, while bespoke joinery was designed and installed throughout to maximise functionality and harmony within the interiors.
The main challenge of this project was to transform a Victorian home into a contemporary, functional family residence without losing its character. Modern living requirements, including open-plan circulation, storage, and multi-functional spaces, had to be carefully balanced against the preservation and creative reinterpretation of period features.
Another layer of complexity came from the client’s eclectic tastes, which demanded a sensitive approach to ensure each room felt unique while maintaining a cohesive style across the home.
