Why I became an interior designer

Natasha Crotty working at Styled Home Design - Why I became an interior designer

My Story…

I haven’t always been an interior designer, I spent much of my career working for some of the UK’s biggest hospitality groups in several roles across brand and customer experience. I was focussed on creating spaces that people wanted to spend time in and keep coming back to. I loved what I did because I’m intrigued with how great design can impact people’s energy and emotions.

I didn’t realise I wanted to be an interior designer until I was already on my way to becoming one. Over the years I have renovated my own properties and although challenging, I’ve always loved the process, so it was never out of the question for me to do it professionally. Eventually I had a lightbulb moment to use my experience to offer a fresh and instinctive approach to interior design for homeowners, developers, and hospitality business owners. Without looking back, I furthered my design studies and Styled Home Design was born. 🌟

Natasha Crotty Styled Home Design - Why I became an interior designer

For me interior design is so much more than paint colours and cushions. Much of life is out of our control yet, our home can be a place of sanctuary and set the stage for many moments in our lives. My obsession with interiors began at an early age with my bedroom being a space to express my personality and fill with my favourite things. Collections of my most prized possessions, and posters of my favourite boybands, and yes I’m not ashamed to admit that was Westlife!

Creating a nest to keep us and the people we love safe and comfortable is an instinct that lies within our make-up. How we design our homes from furniture, wall colours, and displays of our most loved possessions, links back to this desire for personal spaces that support and provide positive, emotional energy.

My approach to design, whether it’s a home or a public space, is the bond between design and the feeling a space needs to create through lighting, colours, layout, textures, artwork and more.

My goal? To create spaces that not only look good but feel good for whoever may visit or live in them 🤍
