“I quit being an Interior Designer” *

*Not true but it got your attention right? Read on…

Coming from a corporate background I learnt that most successful businesses provide solutions to problems. So, in my simplistic view of running an interior designer business, I thought that people would hire me because they wanted someone else to make design decisions for them.

Not always true.

I believed that my business needed a strong brand and a portfolio of projects that all looked similar in style – ideally projects that I was proud to put my name on.

Also, not always true.

But my reality of working as an interior designer has dispelled both beliefs.

Of the projects I’ve worked on over the last 2 years, there has only been a small handful where I’ve felt like my personal design style has been completely aligned to the objectives of the project.

What I’ve realised is that most clients are in fact looking for support, guidance, and expertise to guide them through the process of building and renovating so that they can design the home of their dreams.

And this brings me back to my first statement, successful businesses provide solutions to problems.

This is now what I believe to be true…

Most of my clients don’t want someone else to step in and make all the decisions for them. Instead they want…

~ To create a space that is unique to them, or their business, not the designer they worked with to help them create it

~ They want a clear, actionable path so they know exactly what steps to take to save them time and money

~ They want clear information on what their options are so they can make quick, confident decisions

~ They like to save their time and energy for other (sometimes more important) things so they trust an expert to guide them

So, this is why I quit being a ‘general’ interior designer.

I quit trying to design things for other people, hoping they will love it. I quit trying to build a business and brand that showcases my capabilities as a designer. Because none of these things are, or have ever been, important to me.

Instead, I want to help my clients make smarter choices so that they are more empowered and in control of what they want to create, and I want to feel like what I do adds enormous value and makes a difference.

I’ll guide and coach you through the process, because I genuinely believe most people already know what they want for their homes or business, they just don’t know it yet!
