Some say that wallpaper is back, I say it never really went away!
Even though it’s been around for some time, the wallpaper trend is hotter than ever. Pinterest reports that searches for “wallpaper” were up 41%. And there are many reasons why people are turning to wallpaper to inject personality into spaces.
As we spent more time than ever at home with an adjustment to more at home working, having well-executed interior spaces to spend time in is becoming more desirable than ever. Yet pinning your favourite wallpaper searches online, or snapping inspo at your favourite social hangouts is one thing, committing to wallpaper at home is far more daunting! What if you don’t like it? What if it looks too much? what if you get bored of it quickly?
Here's my top tips on what will work best for you space and what to avoid…
Size
The size of the room you are choosing to wallpaper is the biggest factor when considering your wallpaper pattern or print size. This will determine the scale of the print you can go for. So, think small room, small print, whereas large rooms can take bigger, bolder statement prints or patterns.
Take your time
Unlike paint, wallpaper is a bit of a pain to remove or replace. Most online suppliers offer free samples or even better if it’s a large print buy one roll so you can get a better idea of the scale of print. Pin the paper to your wall and leave it for a few days to make sure you like it in different lights whilst you decide.
Just do it!
Sometimes it’s better to just go for it than to keep pondering. And if you are still unsure then it probably isn’t the right choice for you. Wallpaper is meant to be a statement to any interior décor.
With so many colours, patterns, and prints to choose from wallpaper really can bring your walls to life. So whether it’s a feature wall, a backdrop or a whole room, don’t stress, order some samples, fall in love with one, and own it!
